Nothing Like Spoiling A Surprise

Yesterday after school Monte and Hunter came home to the smell of fresh baked cupcakes. (hubby came home with his nose in the air too) Being the awesome mom that I am, everyone got to eat one. (so maybe I didn't want to wait any longer either)

For Monte's birthday we got him this lego set, (the boy LOVES legos) and books that he has been wanting. They are the Boys Against the Girls series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. He had the first 3 books and has been bugging me for the rest. There are 12 books in all, one for each month the girls are living by the boys. (I've read the first 2 and they are really cute) I kept putting him off because 9 books at $6 each was going to add up and I knew his birthday and Christmas were coming up. So I decided to buy them all (minus the last one that isn't yet out in paperback) and give him 3 for his birthday and the rest for Christmas.

Here's where I went wrong. He opens his books and is excited, but it wasn't quite the reaction I was expecting. You see, I accidentally wrapped up the LAST 3 books I bought in the series, not the NEXT 3 he needed. I can't believe I did that! I really didn't know what to do about it at first. I mean it's silly to make him wait another month when I have the correct books sitting in my closet. But if I give him the right ones he's going to know he's getting them all for Christmas.

So.....I swapped out the wrong ones for the right ones. I think my exact words were, pretend this never happened.

Jammie Day

The boys don't have school today. There's a good chance no one is getting out of their pajamas. And maybe I'll even get a bit caught up on my TiVo.

Braces, cysts, and jobs.....OH MY!!

I stood at the door this morning watching my boys get on the bus, knowing that I would not be home for the first time when they get off the bus this afternoon. That is not a good feeling. You see, I got a job. Not because I wanted one, but because I needed one. Atleast for now. Who knows what the future will bring.

Things have just really been piling up over here. Monte got his braces, (isn't he adorable) Hunter has a cyst in his mouth that is being removed tomorrow (neither are covered under our insurance) my car broke down Thursday night on my way home, my car and hubby's both need new tires, BAD, not to mention Christmas is almost here. You get the picture. So a part time (retail) job is what I got. We have sacrificed and done without many times, but this time there just really wasn't any other option. (believe me, this decision wasn't made over night)

I keep reminding myself that for 10 years I have been able to stay home. That is much longer than a lot of mommy's out there, but that doesn't really make it any easier. The baby is still so little, and still nursing. There will be days like this when I will only see the boys for an hour before school. And I feel bad that my hubby has to get up at 4:30am to go to work, and then come home and be mom and dad to 3 boys, ending his day when the baby goes to bed. I guess this is just another sacrifice we will make.

I've cried and cried. It's not so much working that upsets me, it's leaving the boys. I've never had to. I hardly ever even go anywhere. I even started to cry at my first interview. Yes, I'm a dork, but she was really understanding being a mom who stayed home with her kids for 10 years. I cried as I nursed the baby just a little bit ago, and then laid him down for his nap. And I'm sorta crying right now. I just hope I don't cry all over a customer tonight.

Yes, I'm Still Here

Just been busy. So much going on that I hardly have a moment to think. I promise to try and fill you all in really soon.

Here are pictures from earlier today. Tuesday Hunter has to bring to school a baggie of leaves for a project. (not sure what yet) So a walkin' in the woods we went. The boys had SO much fun. Why didn't I think to do this on my own.

They even ventured off the trail a bit. But only a little since I had to stay with Carter.

But look at all the amazing leaves we got!
